SHAVUOT MANDALA

Shavuot is the holiday when G-d descended onto Mt. Sinai and gave two engraved stone tablets, with the Ten Commandments, to Moses.  On the only time the Creator communicated with an entire nation, he entrusted former slaves with the mission of bringing Divine Light to the Universe.

The people “converted” to Judaism, on the 1st Shavuot, by accepting the Torah and its laws.

The Book of Ruth, is read on the second day, revisiting the story of a true convert who encompassed Judaism whole heartily.

The wheat shafts and the greenery symbolize the foliage at Mt. Sinai, that miraculously appeared in the desert.

The Ten Commandments are circled around Moses at Mt. Sinai. Behind them is a Jewish Star motif, geometrically constructed from six hearts.
