DOWN TO EARTH

Sukkot means “huts.”

The Torah mandated outdoor shelters to live in for the seven days of this Jewish Holiday.

The four walls and the natural vegetation roof, protect us as we eat our meals, entertain, read and study, much like what we do in our everyday homes. Whatever we do within, this structure under the sky, is considered a mitzvah.

“Every citizen in Israel shall dwell in Sukkot, so that your descendants shall know that in Sukkot I caused the children of Israel to dwell when I brought them out of the land of Egypt.”

Leviticus 23: 42, 43
